Going through a delicate pregnancy means you will need bed rest and lots of sleep. However, lying around doing nothing could get old fast. Sooner or later, you’ll get tired of reading all the motherhood and pregnancy books you can get your hands on. Here are some ideas of things you can make while you’re waiting for the arrival of your baby
Crocheting scarves for yourself, hats for your baby, and mini-gloves for when your child is an infant can be relaxing. Mittens are great as gifts for other pregnant moms as well. If you begin a project soon enough, you will have enough time to crochet several sets of sweaters for your child.
Knitting is a good alternative to crocheting, especially if you already have a knitting set around. Baby shower presents almost always include knitting sets, and some of your friends may have a few of these sets to spare. The best thing about knitting is the wide array of items you can make. You can create full length dresses as long as you have a good concept and a lot of yarn on hand.
Scrapbooking is another worthwhile hobby you can start while pregnant. Allot enough room for when your baby is born but you can start creating with the keepsakes you already have such as ultrasound images. Ask your family and friends to contribute small notes that they want to dedicate to your child, and you can use these to adorn your scrapbook.
Woodworking requires dexterity and creativity. After all, you will be working with wood, and this takes practice. This craft can allow you to create a lot of small furniture pieces for your child, as well as toys for when your child can fully appreciate them. While you may not be able to create a lot of wood carvings while you’re lying in bed, this is the time to learn how. Create recipe boxes, and beautiful jewelry boxes where you can keep heirlooms for passing on to your child.
Beading involves ordering items online and creating with them. This is perhaps the least strenuous of all the hobbies you can start while pregnant. There are also patterns you can copy online to make really stunning pieces.
Sketching is a skill you may already have. Your pregnant state makes you more sentimental and more emotional, and art is the best way to channel your excess emotions. Maybe you can paint a picture that you can show your child in the future. Paint a picture of landscapes that calm you. You can you’re your paintings on your summer trips or photos of springtime.
